Commercial Power & Lighting, Fault finding and testing

Power

INCR's commercial electrical power services cover the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex electrical systems.

Core power services offered

  • System Design and Installation: Creating blueprints and setting up complete wiring, lighting, and power distribution for new construction or major expansions.

  • Power Distribution: Managing high-capacity electrical panels, switchgear, and three-phase power systems tailored for commercial loads.

  • Maintenance and Testing: Conducting routine inspections, thermal imaging, and portable appliance testing (PAT) to prevent costly business downtime.

  • Safety and Compliance: Upgrading outdated wiring and installing emergency lighting or fire alarms to meet strict commercial building codes.

Lighting

We offer commercial electrical lighting services which involves professional design, installation, upgrade, and maintenance of lighting systems in non-domestic buildings like offices, shops, and warehouses.

Core lighting services

  • Lighting Design and Planning: Creating layouts and lux-level calculations (measure of light intensity) to ensure work areas meet safety and task requirements.

  • LED Upgrades and Retrofits: Replacing old fluorescent or incandescent bulbs with energy-saving LED systems to lower electricity bills.

  • Emergency Lighting:Setting up battery-backed lights that turn on during power cuts to safely guide people to exits.

  • External and Security Lighting: Fitting floodlights, car park poles, and pathway illumination outside the building.

Electrical inspection & testing

INCR carry out residential electrical inspection and testing process—commonly known in the UK as an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)—is a detailed safety check of your commercial premises  fixed wiring, socket-outlets, light fittings, and fuse box by a qualified electrician.

What the Inspection Involves

  • Visual Inspection: The electrician checks for cracked sockets, burn marks, outdated fuse boards, and missing enclosure covers.

  • Circuit Testing: They use specialized tools to test continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and earth fault loop impedance to find hidden damage or shock risks.

  • The Report: You receive a certificate marked "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory," along with classification codes (C1, C2, C3) for any faults found.

It will take INCR Typically half a day for small premises and a full day for larger properties.

Fault finding

This is a  step-by-step process of locating and fixing hidden problems in a power system, such as a tripped breaker or a dead socket.

Process

Safety and Preparation

  • Safe isolation: Turn off the power and lock out the breaker before you touch any wires.

  • Prove dead: Use a two-pole voltage detector to confirm there is no live current.

  • Unplug appliances: Disconnect portable devices to stop them from masking the true problem.

Visual Check

  • Look for damage: Check for melted plastic, burn marks, or loose wires.

  • Use your senses: Smell for burning plastic or look for water stains near switches and sockets.

Testing and Isolating

  • Half-split method: Open a socket or junction box near the middle of the circuit to split it into two halves.

  • Test continuity: Use a multimeter on the dead circuit to check the resistance and find where the broken path or short is located.

  • Narrow it down: Move along the wire to test smaller sections until you find the exact spot causing the fault.

  • What specific symptom are you seeing (e.g., a tripping RCD, a dead outlet, burning smell)?

  • Is it on a ring or radial circuit?

Installation

We are experienced in designing, wiring, and setting up high-capacity power, lighting, and safety systems for business properties like offices, shops, and warehouses.

This could involve

  • Power Distribution: Setting up main switchboards, circuit breakers, and heavy-duty circuits for high-voltage commercial equipment.

  • Lighting Systems: Installing interior, exterior, emergency, and task-specific lighting designed for energy efficiency.
